Boro eyeing up Belgian striker

Middlesbrough seem to be closing in on Belgian forward Jelle Vossen from Belgian Pro League side Genk.

The 25 year old has been left out of Genk’s squad who play KV Mechelen today. According to Genk he has been excluded because he has a slight knock, but Belgium media is reporting that he is not available because Vossen is on the verge of a transfer away from the club.

Vossen, who has also been linked with Greek side Olympiakos, would fill a void if he was to sign for Middlesbrough, who have already lost strikers Marvin Emnes to Swansea and Lukas Jutkiewicz to Burnley.

Boro have signed Spanish striker Kike from Real Murcia, who scored 23 goals in 43 games last season in the Segunda División and Vossen, who managed 12 goals in 38 appearances, would be a quality front pairing at Championship level.
