Norwich City are through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating Wycombe Wanderers last night at Adams Park.
Jordan Rhodes scored his first hat-trick for four years as the Canaries squeezed past their League One opponents.
Rhodes, who is on loan from fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, opened the scoring on twelve minutes when he latched onto an Emi Buendia cross. The Scotland international then doubled his sides’ lead two minutes later.
Wycombe Wanderers then pulled one back through Paris Cowan-Hall with just seventeen minutes on the clock. He slotted home from close range to keep the contest alive for Gareth Ainsworth’s side.
Norwich then restored their two-goal advantage before half-time as Tom Trybull headed home from a corner. They then went 4-1 ahead in the second interval when Rhodes bagged his third of the game.
Wycombe fought back though and goals from Sam Saunders and Jason McCarthy made it a nervy last fifteen minutes for their Championship opponents.
However, Norwich hung on to book their place in the next round of the League Cup. Here is how their fans reacted on Twitter to beating Wycombe last night-
Back from the #ncfc match against Wycombe and was a great game to watch from an attacking point of view. Lovely 4-3 win to take us into the next round 👌💛💚 #otbc

I am genuinely delighted for Jordan Rhodes. #NCFC

Fair play to Farke, seemed like he was on a very slippery slope before the Ipswich game, ever since then he has made some big decisions which have clearly paid off, involving the younger players being a key one #NCFC

Today attacking performance was really good could of had more goals than we did get. However defensively there has to be questions asked. We look so much more stronger with the 2 young boys at full back #ncfc #CanaryCall
