Newcastle interested in Middlesbrough starlet

Newcastle hasn’t had much to shout about in terms of transfer’s recently and the fans have certainly made their voices heard over their displeasure of Mike Ashley’s ownership.

The Magpies will consider themselves lucky to still have Rafa Benitez at the club, with the clubs lack of transfer activity this summer already holding them back. Salomon Rondon joined the club in a loan switch with Dwight Gayle, but the club needs more rejuvenation up front.

It is being reported in France that Newcastle, RB Leipzig and Rennes are all monitoring French youth prospect Bilal Brahimi. The ‘Boro forward is yet to sign a professional contract at the Riverside, which has alerted clubs from all around Europe.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut for Tony Pulis’ men in their Carabao cup win over Rochdale, with the debutant coming on as a second-half sub. Pulis himself will be hoping to prolong Brahimi’s shelf life with a new contract and more game time this season, but the final decision lay’s with Brahimi.

The lure of Europe’s big boy’s will be tempting for Brahimi, but his game time and immediate development is no doubt in the Championship with ‘Boro. Harry Chapman and Marcus Tavernier have already shown what it takes to break into the first team and Brahimi has the potential to big a big drawer amongst the Teesside faithful.

Pulis and co. continue their strong start to the season with a trip to strugglers Hull City at the weekend, with the club looking for a win that could see them overtake Leeds United on top spot, who face Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
