Celtic and Brighton and Hove Albion are both keen on Wigan Athletic’s Nick Powell, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.
The Latics are wanting to tie him down on a longer deal but are set to face some strong competition for their key man.
Celtic are reportedly showing an interest in the 24-year-old. The Scottish Premier League champions already eyeing up potential targets for the January transfer window as they look to win the title once again this season.
The Hoops will have to compete with Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion for Powell. The Seagulls have been linked with him before. They raided the DW Stadium in the summer to sign defender Dan Burn but loaned him back out to them as part of the deal and could now come in for Powell.
Powell burst onto the scene as a youngster for Crewe Alexandra and earned a dream move to Manchester United in 2012. However, injuries impacted on his career at Old Trafford and he went on loan to Wigan as well as Leicester City and Hull City during his time there.
He joined the Latics on a permanent deal in July 2016 and has found his home. Powell scored 15 goals last season to help Paul Cook’s side win the League One title and he has started this season well in the Championship.
Wigan fans will be hoping that they can keep hold of Powell amid interest from Celtic and Brighton and give him a new contract.
