Bristol City star looks ahead to visit of Sheffield United

Bristol City star Marley Watkins has discussed his first goal for the club and the upcoming visit of high-flying Sheffield United in an interview with the club’s official website.

The Robins welcome an in-form Sheffield United outfit to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon as the division’s two form teams go head to head after recording a combined seven successive Championship victories, but Watkins insists the Robins remain confident.

“The team are really focused. Obviously, we had a little break, a time to rest up, reflect on what we need to improve, what we’ve done well and we’re raring to go and there’s a great atmosphere and spirit in the camp.

“We’re all confident going into Saturday’s game against Sheffield United but we don’t want to rest on our laurels.”

The former Norwich City man was also pleased with his first Robins goal, saying: “It was great to score my first Bristol City goal, it’s always nice to get off the mark – there’s no better feeling!”

“Every footballer needs a run of games to get up to speed and to show what you can do, especially in a new team when you’re learning new patterns of play but we’ve got three wins on the bounce so it’s been good.”

“We know we’ve got to be up for it tomorrow, win the right to play, obviously win the battles first and foremost and they’re on a good run of form as well so it will be a tough game.

“We just need to be at our best and I am sure we can deliver the goods.”
