Nedum Onuoha has signed for Real Salt Lake, as reported by BBC Sport.
The experienced defender has signed a contract until the end of 2019 with the Major League Soccer side. The 31-year-old left Championship side QPR in May at the expiry of his contract and has been weighing up his options this summer.
There was interest in Onuoha from English clubs like Hull City, Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers over the past couple of months but it was Real Salt Lake who turned his head.
Onuoha was born in Manchester and started his career at Manchester City. He rose through the youth ranks of his boyhood club and played 116 games for them in the Premier League before he was loaned out to Sunderland for the 2010/11 season. After spending a single campaign with the Black Cats, QPR snapped him in 2012 and he was there ever since before leaving them in May.
He helped QPR gain promotion to the top flight in 2014 and was a key player for the London side in his six years at the club.
The Hoops’ fans were disappointed to see him leave at the end of last season but Onuoha as he was an important player for them for a long time but he had signalled his desire to write a new chapter in his career. The Major League Soccer now beckons for the experienced centre-back and he will be hoping to impress the Real Salt Lake fans for the remainder of their campaign.
