Portsmouth’s on loan Aston Villa winger to sit out Posh test

Portsmouth winger Andre Green will miss Saturday’s trip to Sky Bet League One leaders Peterborough United with the player currently struggling with a knee injury according to The Portsmouth News.

The 20-year-old Solihull-born wideman is currently on loan at Fratton Park from second tier club Aston Villa but the player is continuing to battle an injury problem which he picked up in the 1-1 home draw with Shrewsbury Town last weekend.

Second placed Pompey could go top of the league with a win at The ABAX Stadium on Saturday, however, Kenny Jackett’s side will need to collect three points without the services of winger Green.

The youngster came through the academy system at parent club Aston Villa and the player made his senior debut for the Midlands outfit at just 17 years of age in a defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in March 2016. Green has gone on to make 28 first team outings for Villa and scored his first goal a little over a year ago in a 4-2 victory over Norwich City at Villa Park.

After featuring in five of Villa’s opening fixtures of this season, Green joined Portsmouth on loan last month for the remainder of the campaign and the player is expected to play an important role for Pompey during his stay on the south coast.
