Leeds United fans receive relieving news ahead of Millwall derby clash

Leeds United fans have been handed some relieving news ahead of Saturday’s derby clash with Millwall in the form of a handful of first-team players returning to contention for selection, according to a Yorkshire Evening Post report.

The report mainly covers the fitness of Patrick Bamford, who remains a serious doubt for the Whites after picking up a knee injury in action for the under-23s, but comments on the situation surrounding several other first-team players ahead of this weekend’s trip to The Den to take on Championship rivals Millwall.

Tough-tackling defender Gaetano Berardi remains doubtful, with Pontus Jansson potentially set to start at the back this weekend, but there is positive news in the form of two others.

Influential attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez could be set to rejoin Ezgjan Alioski, Samuel Saiz and Mateusz Klich in behind Kemar Roofe up top for this weekend’s clash after returning to training this week following a knock which kept him out of the 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough that took place before the international break.

The other update surrounds the fitness of midfielder Adam Forshaw, who is back in training and in contention to feature after breaking his foot during pre-season.

However, with Forshaw potentially back available for the first time this season, Marcelo Bielsa could have something of a selection dilemma in the midfield, with Kalvin Phillips and Forshaw both competing for the same central midfield spot.

It looks most likely that Hernandez will be thrown back into the side, with Forshaw eased back into proceedings off the bench.
