Aston Villa fans react to John Terry being close to Spartak Moscow move

John Terry is set to join Russian side Spartak Moscow on a two-year contract, as reported by the Express & Star.

The 37-year-old left the Aston Villa at the end of last season after their Play-Off final defeat to Fulham. He has been weighing up his option over the summer and has recently been linked with a return to the Championship side.

Aston Villa are in need of another centre-back after loaning Tommy Elphick to Hull City and missing out on signing Le Havre’s Harold Moukoudi and Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna on deadline day so are now looking into turning to a familiar face.

John Terry made the shock move to Villa last summer on a free transfer and played 36 games for them in all competitions last season. He formed an impressive defensive partnership with James Chester and Steve Bruce is keen to bring them back together at the back.

Terry, who has 78 England caps to his name, made his name at Chelsea and played 717 games for the London side in his time there. He has won the Premier League five times, the FA Cup five times, the League Cup three times, the Europa League and the Champions League. However, Villa will be without his experience and know-how this season with it looking like he is going to Spartak Moscow as opposed to a move back to the Midlands.

Here is how Aston Villa fans on Twitter have reacted to the news that he is set to move to the Russian Premier League-
