Steve Morison is probably one of the most controversial ex-Leeds players to still be playing. The striker had a terrible spell at Elland Road a few years ago but since leaving he has had anything but. Ahead of the heated fixture between Millwall and Leeds United he has talked himself up, probably mind games but it’s a dangerous game.
Morison has responded to Liam Cooper’s comments that Leeds United are the fittest side in the division by saying he “pull out his Zlatan Ibrahimovic kit, whack it on and take care of it” meaning Leeds United. Morison has always been outspoken, even about his own fans at times and this is another example of what he can be like ahead, or after games. He doesn’t pull any punches and he’s been like that for some time. The Millwall fans love it, and will be wanting him to help turn Leeds over yet again next weekend.

The latest comments are intended to do one thing and one thing only, wind Leeds United up. Morison will come up against Gaetano Berardi and The Den and Berardi will be pumped, it promises to be a brutal matchup, and Berardi will have read the comments. Morison has turned his career around since returning to Millwall two years ago (on a full-time basis). He’s captained them to promotion with the winning goal, before slating the fans for the pitch invasion, and almost led them to the play-offs last season.
Leeds United have had a great start to the season under Marcelo Bielsa but the Argentine coach won’t really know what to expect at Millwall, although you can probably assume he can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about. Leeds’ record at Millwall isn’t great in recent years but the players who hid in this fixture last season won’t have that chance under Bielsa, if needs be they’ll be hooked early and brutally and that has to be as much of a motivation as Morison’s Ibrahimovic kit.
