Nominees announced for Championship manager of the month for August

The EFL have announced the nominees for August’s manager of the month award via their official website.

The managers of Leeds United, Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers will compete for the award, with the winner being announced on Friday 7th September.

Marcelo Bielsa – Leeds United

Leeds are the second highest scorers in the division and their expansive attacking style of play is down to the new manager Marcelo Bielsa. The former-Lazio and Argentina boss has seen his side remain unbeaten, with victories over promotion favourites Swansea, Stoke and Derby in the process.

Tony Pulis – Middlesbrough

The only other side to remain unbeaten this season is Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side. The Teessiders have not conceded a single goal since the opening game of the season, with five clean sheets in a row. Pulis has gave them defensive solidity, and means they sit level on points with Leeds at the top of the league.

Tony Mowbray – Blackburn Rovers

After achieving promotion last season from League One, many may have thought Tony Mowbray’s side may be struggling towards the bottom of the table. However, Blackburn sit in comfortably mid table having lost only one game in six. They look defensively secure and impressive going forwards, especially with Bradley Dack pulling the strings.

Phil Parkinson – Bolton Wanderers

Another surprise package so far this season are Bolton Wanderers. They are level on points with 5th place, after a points total of 11 points from their first six games. They look hard to beat and are more than capable of nicking a goal or two out of nothing.
