West Brom are close to signing Wes Hoolahan on a free transfer, as reported by The72 earlier.
The 36-year-old left Championship side Norwich City at the end of the last season after ten years playing for them. He is now training with the Baggies as he looks to make a return to the second tier.
Hoolahan helped Norwich gain promotion to the Premier League twice and played over 350 games during his time at Carrow Road. This experience would come in handy for West Brom who have promotion aspirations this season.
Their manager, Darren Moore, has been busy this summer bolstering his squad following their relegation from the top flight last season. He has brought in Sam Johnstone, Jonathan Bond, Kyle Bartley, Tyrone Mears, Conor Townsend, Tosin Adarabioyo, Harvey Barnes and Dwight Gayle, but has not finished his recruitment just yet.
Hoolahan, who has also previously played for Shelbourne, Livingston and Blackpool, has racked up 43 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team and impressed for his country at Euro 2016 in France. He would offer West Brom more options going forward and would be a shrewd piece of business if they sign him.
Here is how their fans have reacted on Twitter to the news-
Wes Hoolahan was a decent footballer 8 years ago tbf #WBA

Hoolahan being linked. Not sure picking up all of these ageing free agents is ideal but you’d think with the form Barnes is in at the minute he would only be cover

Might be a biased Irishman but it would be a fantastic signing imo. He's actually probably better than Chadli.
