International call-up will give huge boost to Leeds United midfielder – Even better to come

Mateusz Klich has to be one of the most talked about players in the Championship so far this season. A player who barely kicked a ball for Leeds United last season and is now a key player, sitting top of the Championship and hooking up with Polish national squad this break.

Football is a confidence sport. If you are playing well and are full of confidence the chances are that things will get better. When you lose that confidence it can take time to rebuild. That doesn’t just go for players playing professionally. All the way down to Sunday league and even a kick about at the park, if you’re a confident player you will stand out. Klich has built his confidence back up during the last six months and is now showing what a player he is.

The goal on the opening day of the season was a watershed moment for the player and it turned out to be one for the side in general. Stoke City were expected to come and roll Leeds United over, but what that day did, starting with the Klich goal was being the BielsaBall era at the football club. In that single moment Mateusz Klich went from being a player with question marks over how well he could do, to a player who was on the brink of form that would see him cement his place at the club, and in the side.

As the season has developed in the early stages Klich has continued this form. Two more goals, a beauty at Derby and a clever finish at Norwich started big victories and last week we got the news that everybody wanted. Mateusz Klich was recalled to the Polish national side after two years, something that he was on the brink of when he joined Leeds. After arriving from Twente he was set to be a key player. An injury was a nightmare start but Thomas Christiansen decided on Eunan O’Kane over Mateusz Klich.

The international break will just increase his belief and that is only good for Leeds United. He’s now a player that looks like he belongs at the top-end of the Championship, clearly the national team manager things he can do it again on that stage.
