Izzy Brown to compete with Samu Saiz? What about Izzy Brown to play with Samu Saiz…

Since the news broke that Leeds United were interested in Izzy Brown the story has been about him arriving as back-up for Samu Saiz. I honestly don’t see it like this, if Pablo Hernandez and Samu Saiz can be so effective in the same team, I fully expect all three could be a force to be reckoned with, I see it as a chance to play the three together.

Take out the fact that Brown will take time to get up to speed, it doesn’t matter. He is a quality signing, a player who is probably a Premier League standard but needs to return strong from injury and play games, both of which he can do at Leeds United. This is a signing draped with intent, one that screams ambition and one that makes complete sense. Marcelo Bielsa has a pull factor, and Leeds United are the marriage he’s making work in terms of ambition, Chelsea have clearly seen this.

Brown will be wanting to play through the middle, a position that Samu Saiz has nailed down at Elland Road. when the Spanish attacking midfielder arrived from Huesca the question was simple, what now for Pablo Hernandez? The response was simple, Hernandez has moved into a different “starting” position and has become a better player for the team and in himself by doing it. At times he’s through the middle, in deep midfield or on the opposite flank. This is fluid.

Leeds United are now fluid, under Bielsa that is. Players can move and escape the clutches of their starting slot, express themselves and Izzy Brown is no different. I see him as a player who can play with Saiz, a pairing that is actually mouth-watering rather than unrealistic and one that, accompanied by Pablo Hernandez is a thought for the future.

It will take time for Brown to get up to speed and we need to have patience, it’s a horrible injury to come back from, but Brown has the ability to make the difference this season.
