Middlesbrough made 10 changes to the side which faced West Bromwich Albion on Friday night, with only match winner Dani Ayala keeping his place in the team.
However, with an eye on the top of the table clash on Friday evening, Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis brought Ayala off at half-time, replacing him with 18-year old Bilal Brahimi.
The youngster is naturally a left-sided midfielder, and can even play as an out and out striker. However, on his debut, Pulis gave Brahimi a chance to shine at right-wing back, where he was given licence to go forwards and run at defenders.
Brahimi impressed in his first senior appearance, and was not afraid to take the ball, dribble and attempt to create chances for his teammates.
The teenager joined Middlesbrough’s youth set up last summer from Portuguese second division side Leixões S.C. and has gone on to play 24 times for the under 18 and under 23 sides.
Here is the reaction from social media, with many Boro fans impressed with his debut.

As well as Brahimi, defender Djed Spence was given his second opportunity to impress in a Boro shirt, and did exactly that.
Thought Spence and Bilal Brahimi played well tonight. Certainly 2 for the future

Spence, Brahimi and Hugill were very impressive. Besic and Johnson good too.

It is not yet confirmed who Middlesbrough’s opponents will be for the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the draw scheduled to go ahead on Thursday 30th August from 7pm.
Both Brahimi and Boro fans will be hoping the 18-year old gets another chance to impress in the next round, and could be pushing for the first team in years to come.
