Rangers keen to sign Forest defender ahead of Old Firm duel

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will look to complete the loan signing of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall early this week according to the Daily Record.

The 21-year-old centre-back has lost his place in the Forest side and is wanted by Glasgow giants Rangers as they look to plug their leaky defence.

The Ibrox outfit conceded three times at Motherwell at the weekend as they battled out a thrilling 3-3 draw. Gerrard’s men now face Glasgow rivals Celtic on the green and white side of the city on Sunday with the Liverpool legend keen to fix his side’s defensive frailties.

Rangers have been heavily linked with a loan move for Forest defender Worrall with the club having contacted the Sky Bet Championship outfit over the weekend. It has been reported that the youngster could move to Ibrox within a matter of hours if The Gers boss Gerrard gets his way.

Worrall has come through the youth ranks at The City Ground and has gone on to make 56 first team appearances for Forest in which he has scored one goal. The youngster is thought to have a long term future with his boyhood club but has lost his place in the side as a result of the club’s successful summer transfer dealings.

Rangers are likely to throw Worrall straight into the side against Celtic should he complete his loan move to Ibrox this week.
