Former Leeds United and Liverpool ace linked with Notts County job

Former Leeds United and Liverpool striker Harry Kewell is being linked with the managerial vacancy at Sky Bet League Two club Notts County according to reports by Nottinghamshire Live.

The 39-year-old former Australia international is currently in charge of The Magpies’ fourth tier rivals Crawley Town.

Kewell has kept The Red Devils away from any potential threat of relegation since his arrival at the Checkatrade.com Stadium despite having to work with one of the smaller playing budgets in Sky Bet League Two.

It has been reported that Kewell could be one of names considered by the Notts County board for their managerial vacancy after the club sacked former boss Kevin Nolan at the weekend. The Magpies are currently bottom of the entire English Football League following a turbulent start to the season.

Kewell was the shock managerial appointment at Crawley Town in May 2017 and he has since gone on to win 18 of his 57 matches in charge of the West Sussex club. His only previous managerial role since his retirement from playing saw him fill the position of Watford Under-21s head coach between July 2015 and April 2017.

As a player, Kewell hit 57 goals for Leeds United before adding a further 15 goals to his overall tally in England with Liverpool. The former frontman went on to play in Turkey, Qatar and his native Australia after leaving England.
