Leeds United young striker leaves club – season loan deal

Young Spanish striker Adrian Balboa was one of the youngsters brought in from the continent, and from some big-name sides, to bolster the ranks at Leeds United. However, according to the club’s official website, the Whites are waving hasta luego to the youngster.

The prodigiously talented Balboa joined the Whites from Barcelona-based side UD Unificación Bellvitge, reportedly picked up by Leeds United after a recommendation by Pep Clotet who was assistant manager at Elland Road at the time.

He’d outscored every player of his age category at the Catalan-based club, coming to Elland Road and becoming a fixture in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 squad. He started eight games last season for the Under-23s, another eight appearances coming as a substitute, and scored two goals.

Balboa had been announced by Spanish side CF Badalona (below) as having joined the club, but that ‘deal’ seems somewhat premature and definitely dead in the water:

Instead, the no-doubt talented Balboa is instead heading for Badalona’s fellow Catalan-based side in Terrassa FC. The latter play their football in Spain’s Tercera División, the fourth tier of Spanish football under Primera División, Segunda División and Segunda División B.

Leeds United send him with the ubiquitous wishes of good luck and saying that it is an opportunity for the 20-year-old to “gain valuable first team experience.
