Middlesbrough have been linked to Everton pair Yannick Bolasie and Muhamed Besic this transfer window, and both players looked to be joining Boro on a permanent contract earlier in the summer.
However, both deals passed Middlesbrough by, and no permanent deals were completed in time due to complications regarding wages and agent fees. Tony Pulis’ side have now turned their attention to loan deals for both Bolasie and Besic and are hoping to get deals over the line before the loan window shuts on August 31st.
According to The Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are hoping to bring the two players to the club with the security that there is an option-to-buy clause within their contracts.
Besic enjoyed a successful spell on loan at The Riverside from January until the end of last season, and was keen to return to Boro. With an option-to-buy at the end of the loan, the Bosnian would not find himself playing with the under-23s at Everton until he finds himself another move next summer, and instead has the security of knowing where he will be playing his football the following season.
Yannick Bolasie has been told by new Everton manager Marco Silva that he is to play no part in the Toffees season, and should look for a new club. Both Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are currently vying for his signature, with the DR Congo international having spent time at both clubs’ training grounds in the past two days.
Middlesbrough are confident in bringing both players to the club, and are hoping that the option of a permanent contract is the determining factor in Besic and Bolasie’s decision on their future, as teams also interested are said to not be offering a similar clause at the moment.
