Other than Bolasie and Besic, who else could Middlesbrough sign before the loan window shuts?

Middlesbrough look to complete the loan deals for Everton duo Muhamed Besic and Yannick Bolasie this week, but may move for other players before the loan window shuts.

Here are five other players Middlesbrough could still sign on loan for the remainder of the season.

1. Jason Puncheon – Attacking midfielder (Crystal Palace)

Having been out of action for a number of months due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Jason Puncheon’s place in the side could be in jeopardy. Boro manager Tony Pulis worked with Puncheon at Palace in 2014, and that could be a huge pull for the midfielder to drop into the Championship.

2. Joel Ward – Right-back (Crystal Palace)

Another Palace player Middlesbrough are interested in is Joel Ward. The right-back, who can also play on the opposite side, would be a good addition for Boro given both his Championship and Premier League experience.

3. Matt Targett – Left-back (Southampton)

It is obvious Middlesbrough are looking into full-backs to provide competition for George Friend and Ryan Shotton, and Matt Targett could do just that. He enjoyed a successful spell in the Championship last season with Fulham, as he was promoted to the top flight via the Play Offs.

4. Sheyi Ojo – Winger (Liverpool)

Winger Sheyi Ojo has been told by Jurgen Klopp that a loan move away from Anfield would be the best option for the youngster. Middlesbrough remain keen, although their interest has cooled with their pursuit of Yannick Bolasie.

5. Martin Ødegaard – Attacking midfielder (Real Madrid)

In what would be a major coup for any Championship side, Real Madrid have reportedly ‘offered’ starlet Martin Ødegaard to a host of English second tier clubs, including Middlesbrough.

The attacking midfielder would provide plenty of creativity, and would be one of the loan signings of the summer if they can pull this off.
