Predicted Oldham Athletic XI vs Yeovil Town

Oldham Athletic travel to Yeovil Town on tonight looking to continue where they left off at the weekend beating Macclesfield Town 3-1.

Frankie Bunn has no new injury concerns ahead of the Latics’ trip to Huish Park. Club captain Peter Clarke is available after returning from a knee injury for Saturday’s 3-1 win over Macclesfield, and in the same game striker Sam Surridge scoring his first goal following a hamstring problem.

Oldham Athletic have only won five of their 18 league matches against Yeovil (D5 L8), with their most recent win a 1-0 victory in April 2013.

Latics beat Macclesfield Town at the weekend to pick up their first three points of the season. The opening goal came as Surridge picked up the loose ball and drove at the Silkmen defence, who he caused problems for all game.

He knocked it past Fiacre Kelleher before calmly slotting past Rhys Taylor in the Macclesfield goal for his first goal for Oldham Athletic.

Latics doubled their well-deserved lead shortly after half-time when Branger-Engone’s deflected striker beat Taylor in goal, following Dan Gardner nicking the ball from Rose inside the visitors’ half.

Rose pulled a goal for Macclesfield with a freekick under the wall after Giles Coke brought down Koby Arthur on the edge of the box.

The away side searched for an equaliser, but the Oldham defence stood firm and Miller ensured the first win of the season with a third.

Young defender George Edmundson launched the ball clear and after initially holding the ball in the corner, Miller decided to barge and power his way into the box before firing it into the corner of the net.

Predicted Oldham Athletic XI vs Yeovil Town –

Goalkeeper, Dan Iversen – The Leicester City loanee has been very impressive so far, he showed his quality for Latics making numerous vital saves in both games.

Right-Back, Robert Hunt – The versatile defender hasn’t had his greatest start to a season, but should retain his place as he has quality and will keep the Latics defence solid.

Centre-Back, Peter Clarke (C) – The club captain led by example against Macclesfield Town, he organised his defence and won every aerial battle and kept out their striker was Latics were under pressure.

Centre-Back, George Edmundson – He has strong start to the season and won man of the match against Derby County as he did a great job on striker Jack Marriott. Him and Peter Clarke are a solid partnership with George Edmundson learning off the captain.

Left-Back, Andy Taylor – The experienced full-back kept the Latics defence soild and organised against Macclesfield Town. He also offers an option going forward and possesses a fantastic cross to cause the opposition problems.

Centre-Midfield, Dan Gardner – He led by example against Forest Green Rovers and was impressive against Derby County and is likely to retain his place in the starting XI. He works tirelessly for the team and shows an abundance of passion. Especially after, Forest Green Rovers goalkeeper Sanchez brought down Jose Baxter in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Gardner confident stepped as he dispatched the penalty to rescue a point for Latics. Against Macclesfield Town he looked a class above.

Centre-Midfield, Giles Coke – The experienced midfielder hasn’t had a great start to the season but Frankie Bunn seemed determined to fit him into any team. He’s cost open two goals this season, firstly MK Dons he gave a penalty away and he gave the free kick away that Macclesfield Town scored from.

Right-Midfield, Johan Branger-Engone – The skilful winger cause endless problems to the oppositions this season, especially Macclesfield Town they couldn’t contain him and was reward with a goal.

Left-Midfield, Gevaro Nepomuceno – The left-winger will once again have to convert to the right-wing as Latics failed to bright a right-winger in over the summer. Nepomuceno has quick feet and offers a great cross which causes defences a handful of problems, but may struggle with using his weaker right foot.

Striker, Chris O’Grady – The experienced forward impressed the Oldham supporters against Macclesfield Town, creating a strong partnership with Sam Surridge. He held the ball up for team mates and looked to slot players in on goal.

Striker, Sam Surridge – Very impressive against MK Dons and Macclesfield Town and was rewarded with a goal, he also created a partnership with Chris O’Grady.

Key Substitutions – 

Attacking Midfielder, Jose Baxter – Having missed pre-season Baxter wouldn’t be fit enough to start the game, but will be given the second half to show his outstanding talent.

Striker, Callum Lang – He only signed on Tuesday so is likely to start on the bench, but could a massive impact in the second half.

Striker, Ishmael Miller – The big powerhouse had a big impact against Macclesfield Town and was rewarded with a fantastic solo goal.
