Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst may have a few selection difficulties after his U23 side beat Hull City comfortably.
The young Blues stormed to an 8-0 victory at Portman Road as they claimed their first win of the season.
Town’s youngsters lost 3-2 to Sheffield United in the opening game of the season but bounced back with a resounding victory.
Danny Rowe and Ben Morris scored three and two respectively, while Idris El Mizouni, Ben Folami & Jack Lankester all placed their names on the scoresheet.
The Blues were ahead within ten minutes when Morris fired home. The young striker reeled onto Shane McLoughlin’s cross and lashed home from close range after the initial effort was saved.
Town came close to extending their lead twice as Morris was provided great chances, but the striker was unable to connect with Rowe’s cross. Callum Burton then made a good save to push Morris’ low effort onto the post moments later.
But the lead was extended on 33 minutes when Emyr Huws picked out Rowe inside the area, with the winger instinctively striking home.
Idris El Mizouni added a third for Town one minute later, placing a shot beyond Burton from close range.
It took the Blues just four minutes in the second half before they found the net for a fourth time, with Folami firing low into the corner to increase the lead.
Town’s lead was soon five goals when Morris struck home McLoughlin’s through ball before Jack Lankester – who has recently signed a professional contract with the First Team – whipped a shot into the far corner to make it 6-0.
Rowe scored his second of the evening as he tapped home Lankester’s deep cross before sealing his hat-trick twenty minutes from time as he poked home Josh Emmanuel’s pull-back.
