Swansea City are closing in on the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to Inside Wales Sport.
The Swans’ boss, Graham Potter, has been in the hunt for a new centre-back and is close to bringing the 20-year-old to Wales.
Carter-Vickers joined Tottenham at the age of eleven and rose through the youth ranks of the London side. He made his first-team debut in September 2016 in a League Cup tie against Gillingham at White Hart Lane.
He has since played three more times for Spurs but gained plenty of first-team experience out on loan in the Championship last season. Carter-Vickers spent the first half of the campaign at Sheffield United and played 18 games for the Blades.
The American defender then ended the season at Ipswich Town and played 14 times for the Tractor Boys who have shown an interest in bringing him back to Portman Road for this season. However, it now appears that he is Swansea-bound.
The Swans have had a difficult summer after relegation from the Premier League and are in need of a couple more players to boost the numbers in their squad. Despite this, they have started the season well under Graham Potter and have seven points from three games.
Here is how their fans have reacted on Twitter to news linking them with Cameron Carter-Vickers-

All for Carter-Vickers for depth purposes but he doesn’t get in the first team.. central midfield is our priority. Get that done first. @SwansOfficial #Swans

It's @reluctantnicko who's said we're in for him, along with Ipswich. Very reliable source. Would be great if we could bring in Carter-Vickers, very solid defender with decent feet, exactly the kind of player we need.

Carter-Vickers was very good for Ipswich in the second half of last season. Played at Sheffield United for the first half. Would be a decent option on loan, though you'd imagine he'd come in as a third choice behind Rodon and VDH.
