Nottingham Forest midfielder set for Dutch Eredivisie move

Nottingham Forest midfielder Thomas Lam is set for a return to PEC Zwolle, according to Nottingham Live.

The 24-year-old joined Forest in 2016 from Zwolle and is now set for a move back to his former side. He has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground.

Lam, who has 19 caps for the Finland national team, moved to England on a free transfer and played 21 games for the Reds in all competitions in his first season at the club.

However, he was loaned out to FC Twente in the last campaign and could not prevent them from relegation from the Eredivisie to the Jupiler League last season.

Lam was born in Amsterdam and is eligible to play for Holland but chose to play for Finland through his mother. He started his career at local side Amsterdamsche FC before he was snapped up AZ Alkmaar as a youngster in 2005.

He went onto play 9 games for their first-team before leaving them for fellow top flight side Zwolle in 2014. He became a key player for them and played 70 games in his two seasons at the club and scored 8 goals.

Lam is now set to return to the club where he has had his best form so far in his career. Zwolle, who are managed by former Melbourne City manager John van ‘t Schip, finished 9th in the Dutch top flight last season and have former Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Darryl Lachman amongst their players.
