Hull City want loan moves for Middlesbrough duo

Hull City are interested in loaning Middlesbrough duo Marvin Johnson and Ashley Fletcher, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The Tigers are in need of some reinforcements before the loan window shuts after a poor start to the Championship season.

They may have to wait to offload winger Kamil Grosicki before bringing anyone else in to free up more funds. However, this seems baffling considering the amount of money the club has made over the past 12 months on player sales and wages freed up by players leaving at the expiry of their contract.

Marvin Johnson has been linked with Hull City before and they tried to sign him last summer from Oxford United. The 27-year-old ended up at Middlesbrough but has not been a first-team regular for the North-East side and could leave them on loan before the end of August.

Johnson has previously played for the likes of Solihull Moors, Kidderminster Harriers, Motherwell and Oxford and would not be a bad loan signing for Hull.

Ashley Fletcher is another player on Nigel Adkins’ list of transfer targets. Boro paid £6.5 million to sign him from West Ham United last summer but the move has not worked out as of yet. The 22-year-old played 19 games for them last season an scored twice before he was shipped out on loan to Sunderland in January.

The former Manchester United striker needs to prove himself in the Championship and a loan move to Hull would be a good opportunity for him. The Tigers may have to wait for Middlesbrough, who are keen on signing some more players, to bring in another forward before they sanction a loan move for Fletcher.
