Leeds United have a record breaking head-coach. Marcelo Bielsa comes the first coach in the history of the club to win his first four games. This was by far the hardest, Rotherham United looked more of a threat than Stoke, Derby and Bolton combined to be fair, but we kept going and got the result.
Player ratings
Baily Peacock-Farrell – 8 – One remarkable save to keep us on level terms in the first-half. Rotherham could have been two or three up at the break but Peacock-Farrell saved the best chance from point-blank. Fantastic.
Luke Ayling – 7 – I didn’t think he had the best game but he got such an important goal. It wasn’t a game where the opener needed to be passed into the next. After the goal he grew into the game. Thought he struggled slightly in the first half.
Gaetano Berardi – 8 – #T72MOTM – Between him and Peacock-Farrell for man of the match but for me it was Berardi. He marked one of the tallest strikers I’ve seen and did it all game, tackles were quality and his distribution was good. Has impressed me so much at centre-back.
Liam Cooper – 6 – Almost gave away a crucial goal but was bailed out by Peacock-Farrell, apart from that he had good and bad moments. The most shaky he’s looked, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Jansson start on Tuesday at Swansea, but for who I don’t know.
Barry Douglas – 6 – steady game and didn’t put a foot wrong but couldn’t really get into the game going forward. When he did he often looked up to see nobody in the box, had to turn out and used Kalvin Phillips time and time again.
Kalvin Phillips – 7 – Was good on the ball today and played a beautiful pass for the second goal. His stats are very impressive regarding his passing, most was collecting the ball and keeping us ticking over. Not as influential as he has been off the ball, did give it away under no pressure a couple of time.
Mateusz Klich – 7 – Worked extremely hard today and his runs into the channels to take players out of the centre and free Samu Saiz don’t get the credit they deserve. Was tidy with the ball and almost bagged his third goal from range in the first half.
Samu Saiz – 7 – Wasn’t at his best but that’s only due to his very high standards. Still the most creative player on the park, just had a bus to get through in the final third. Should have scored but cleared off the line. Great to see him enjoying himself again.
Pablo Hernandez – 6 – Couldn’t really get into his swing today and struggled to make an impact. Did put a few good balls into the box but he can be excused with a quiet game, he carried us at times last season.
Gjanni Alioski – 6 – Very similar to Hernandez and I was shocked that both lasted the full game. With Jack Harrison out with a coach before half-time warming up I was expecting a sub. Worked very hard though, played an important role in second, held player off and laid off to Phillips.
Kemar Roofe – 7 – Actually struggled to get into the game but scored one of the best team goals I’ve seen at Leeds for a long time. Latched onto a ball from Phillips, cut inside and finished so well, confidence sky-high. Unlucky not to score a lovely first half goal, just went wide.
