After a season of consolidation (where the Dons would have finished 16th if it wasn’t for a points deduction) Wimbledon have every reason to be looking further up the table this time around. After only scoring 49 goals last season, Neil Ardley has made the necessary additions to his forward line bringing in Matt Tubbs, on a season long loan, and Adebayo Akinfenwa. Those additions will certainly have whet the appetite of Wimbledon’s support but it clear that Ardley hasn’t completed disregarded his already half-decent defence as he has added the experienced duo of Jack Smith and Mark Phillips whilst the midfield has been bolstered with the additions of Dannie Bulman and Sean Rigg. A few younger players have also been added to the new-look Wimbledon squad and it is easy to see the club making a fist of things higher up the table – their faithful following deserve it more than most but it could take time for the new faces to settle and gel.
