Potential Leeds XI vs Rotherham

Leeds face an entirely different challenge tomorrow afternoon, hosting Rotherham United in a Yorkshire Derby. Although the clubs aren’t big rivals it’s more the way Rotherham may set up to stop Leeds playing. Expect men behind the ball and frustrating tactics against a Leeds side who will want to win this game without much trouble. It doesn’t always work like that.

Potential XI

GK – Baily Peacock-Farrell – Jamal Blackman probably didn’t do enough to make Marcelo Bielsa think about swapping them yet. Peacock-Farrell made a mistake at Derby but ultimately it wouldn’t matter with what came next.

RB – Luke Ayling – Has been immense so far, captained the side on Tuesday against Bolton and will move back over to his familiar right-back role tomorrow.

CB – Gaetano Berardi – At some stage Pontus Jansson will break back into this side, I’m certain of that. For now there is just no reason that Berardi can be moved out. For me the last two games are the best I’ve seen him in a Leeds shirt.

CB – Liam Cooper – For many it will take time to be convinced that Cooper can push us forward but so far so good this season. The words of Marcelo Bielsa have certainly helped his cause.

LB – Barry Douglas – Douglas as the first choice left-back and Tom Pearce as the back-up, not bad at all. It was a problem position last season but this year it’s very strong. Douglas has already won over the Leeds fans.

DM – Kalvin Phillips – Phillips has arguably been the best player this season. Has excelled in a new role and has helped control games. Has been criticised a lot in recent years, a lack of consistency was the issue but he looks a new player under Marcelo Bielsa.

CM – Mateusz Klich – For me this position is the most important on the pitch. This player has to link the deep players to the front ones and as well as a lot of work it has to be played with thought. Klich has been quality this season. All he needed was a proper chance.

CAM – Samu Saiz – After a poor pre-season and a bit of a nightmare end to last season he’s come back looking as strong, if not stronger than last season. Everything is going through him again. In this form he’s the one we look to.

RW – Pablo Hernandez – Has been brilliant this season and has gone under the radar. Playing wide and floating all over the park. If Rotherham sit behind the ball he will be key.

LW – Gjanni Alioski – Has been like new player this season. Already looks more dangerous than most of last season and looks like he fully understands what he needs to do to keep his place in the side.

ST – Kemar Roofe – Has started the season like a house on fire. Two outstanding goals at Derby after a wonderful performance against Stoke. More of the same.
