Predicted Oldham Athletic XI vs Macclesfield Town – Peter Clarke? Jose Baxter?

Oldham Athletic are still looking for their 1st three points of the season as they host Macclesfield Town.

In midweek, Oldham Athletic suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Championship side Derby County as Chelsea loanees’ Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount both scored.

Derby took the lead after referee Darren Bond judged that George Edmundson dragged Mount down, a very soft decision.

Derby capitalized and Harry Wilsons’ cross in was met by the head of Tomori who headed past Iversen.

That save proved to be vital as Mount doubled Derby’s lead when he smashed home an effort past Iversen even though it fell fortunately to the youngster.

Predicted Oldham Athletic XI vs Macclesfield Town –

Goalkeeper, Dan Iversen – The Leicester City loanee was impressive against Forest Green Rovers and Derby County, he showed his quality for Latics making numerous vital saves in both games.

Right-Back, Tom Hamer – Although, the highly-rated young full-back didn’t have great game against Forest Green Rovers, he was solid and showed his class against Championship side Derby County in midweek and deserves his chance again.

Centre-Back, Peter Clarke (C) – The club captain has missed the MK Dons and Forest Green game through injury, but looks set to return to the team. Peter Clarke will be a massive boost to Latics and will be great seeing him back in the side.

Centre-Back, George Edmundson – He kept strong to keep Forest Green Rovers out in the second half and won man of the match against Derby County as he did a great job on striker Jack Marriott.

Left-Back, Robert Hunt – The versatile defender hasn’t had a great start to the season, but should retain his place as he has quality and will keep the Latics defence solid.

Centre-Midfield, Dan Gardner – The captain led by example against Forest Green Rovers and was impressive against Derby County and is likely to retain his place in the starting XI. He works tirelessly for the team and shows an abundance of passion. Especially after, Forest Green Rovers goalkeeper Sanchez brought down Jose Baxter in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Gardner confident stepped as he dispatched the penalty to rescue a point for Latics.

Centre-Midfield, Christopher Missilou – The tireless midfielder will break up play well for Latics and was rested on Tuesday night against Derby County to keep him fresh for Macclesfield Town.

Right-Midfield, Gevaro Nepomuceno – The left-winger will once again have to convert to the right-wing as Latics failed to bright a right-winger in over the summer. Nepomuceno has quick feet and offers a great cross which causes defences a handful of problems, but may struggle with using his weaker right foot.

Left-Midfield, Johan Branger-Engone – The skilful winger cause endless problems to the Derby County full-back with his quick feet. He has the potential to cut open the Macclesfield defence.

Striker, Chris O’Grady – The experienced forward has far from impressed the Oldham supporters since signing. But, he can held the ball up for team mates and linked up with strike partner Jonathan Benteke against Derby County

Striker, Sam Surridge – He missed the Forest Green Rovers game due to injury, but is like to return to the team after impressing against MK Dons on the opening day.

Key Substitutions – 

Jose Baxter – Having missed pre-season Baxter wouldn’t be fit enough to start the game, but will be given the second half to show his outstanding talent.

Callum Lang – He only signed on Tuesday so is likely to start on the bench, but could a massive impact in the second half.
