Swansea City working on loan deal for Brentford’s Ryan Woods

Swansea City are working on a loan deal for Brentford’s Ryan Woods, according to the BBC.

The Swans tried to sign the midfielder on deadline day but were not prepared to meet his transfer valuation. Woods was keen on a move to the Welsh side and a deal could now be struck through a loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Woods, who is 24-years-old, is a talented player who has impressed over the past three seasons in the second tier with Brentford. He joined them in 2015 and has since played 127 games but wanted to leave in the summer for the next chapter of his career.

He started out as a youngster at Walsall before joining Shrewsbury Town when he was 16 years-old. Woods broke into the Shrews’ first-team in the 2012/13 season and became a key player for them before leaving to join Brentford in the Championship for around £1 million.

Woods has adapted well to the step up and will be a very impressive loan signing for Swansea City if they can pull it off. The Swans’ new boss, Graham Potter, has been  bolstering his newly inherited squad over the summer. They signed the likes of Bersant Celina from Manchester City, Joel Asoro from Sunderland, Barrie McKay from Nottingham Forest and Yan Dhanda from Liverpool.

Their fans were disappointed on deadline day with the lack of incomings but good things come to those who wait with a loan deal now looking a distinct possibility for Woods and Swansea.
