Highly-rated Nottingham Forest defender could be made available for loan

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka could make centre-back Joe Worrall available for loan with the player currently struggling for game time at The City Ground according to the Nottingham Post.

The 21-year-old Hucknall-born defender made an impressive 35 outings for The Reds last season and he scored his first senior goal for the club in their 3-2 home victory over Bolton Wanderers last December.

Worrall is yet to appear for Forest this term following the significant squad strengthening which has taken place over the summer and it has been revealed that The Reds boss Karanka could be open to a loan move for the youngster to enable him to enjoy regular first team football.

The defender has been on the books at Nottingham Forest since December 2011 and Worrall has successfully made the step up to the first team squad. The youngster made his first team debut for the club at just 19 years of age and he has gone on to make 56 appearances in all competitions for Forest.

Worrall has appeared for England at both Under-20 and Under-21 levels and he was voted the second best player of the tournament at last summer’s Toulon Tournament as England went on to lift the trophy.

Regular competitive football is now the number one priority for Worrall’s continued development and it looks like a loan move away from The City Ground could be a possibility.
