With a smile, that’s for sure. Leeds united destroyed Frank Lampard and derby County tonight. The high-press which is fast becoming feared by opposition fans and a clinical edge that saw us eventually put our seventh goal in two games past a helpless Scott Carson. Marcelo Bielsa, welcome to Leeds United.

We were told countless times by those who knew Marcelo Bielsa and his style, his obsession that this would be a crazy era and so far every Leeds United fan is loving it. This is a long old season and whether this small squad can keep this up is anyone’s guess, but Marcelo Bielsa seems confident and he called we had fifteen players too many and he’s got rid of that many, with more probably set to go. But if Leeds can ride performances like that for periods of the season then anything is possible.

The players are right, you have to stay grounded. We’ve only played two games and that’s just six points. There are forty-four games left, a hell of a long season and things can change very fast, just look at last season. After a dream start we flopped in horrific fashion, players lost form and went missing, but one thing we didn’t have last season was Marcelo Bielsa. The thought of him and this obsession with football and tactics gives confidence, and the players are taking it on board.

Two important factors from the start of the season are this, one, this is basically the same set of players as last season. The only new signing to have started the two games is Barry Douglas, even Pontus Jansson hasn’t kicked a ball yet. The second is that we’ve played two of the strongest sides in the league, Stoke City and Derby County. Nobody really expected Leeds to win both games and win them in clear and decisive fashion.

I enjoyed every minute of that game tonight, it didn’t ever look in doubt and in all honesty it was the same last week. Last season I had lost the excitement and feeling towards the end, but Bielsa has injected it back into so many. A great start, but that’s all it is, a start.
