Former Leicester City manager Ian Holloway said “he should be likened to Dele Alli” about the club’s summer signing from Norwich City James Maddison.
The 21-year-old midfielder signed a five-year contract at King Power Stadium.
James Maddison joins Leicester City after an impressive 2017/18 campaign at Championship side Norwich City. He scored 15 goals and was included in the PFA’s Championship Team of the Year having created more chances than any other player in the division.
He was born in Coventry and that’s where Maddison started his career as an Academy graduate, making his debut in 2014 in a League Cup defeat to Cardiff City.
The attacking midfielder wore the no.10 shirt during the 2015/16 campaign, scoring two goals for the club before signing for Norwich City in February and returning to Coventry on loan for the remainder of the season.
Former Leicester City manager Ian Holloway rates the exciting youngster very highly as he said: “They made a brilliant signing in Jordan Rhodes, they missed a goalscorer last season and that’s what he’s been brought in to do. They’ve lost a kid that’s a genius in James Maddison and you just can’t replace that, the kid is fantastic, a wonderful footballer. I think he should be likened to Dele Alli but in his own style, Dele has been a sensation at Tottenham. Was he made there or MK Dons, I think MK Dons and I think Norwich have produced a balance, clever, intelligent footballer and I think the kid will go from strength to strength. This is what it’s about and well done to Norwich, this is the credit that the EFL clubs should be getting for producing such talented players in the lower divisions who are capable of playing at any level.”
