Charlton Athletic poised to make loan signing on Friday

Sky Bet League One outfit Charlton Athletic hope to complete the signing of one player on a loan deal on Friday according to reports on the club’s official website.

The Addicks opened the 2018/2019 campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at The Stadium of Light on Saturday and caretaker manager Lee Bowyer has been keen to add to his squad.

There has been little news from The Valley on transfers this week but it has now been revealed that The Addicks have agreed a deal in principle to take an unnamed player on loan with his medical set to take place in South East London on Friday.

The potential new arrival could sign on in time to make his Charlton Athletic debut against Shrewsbury Town at The Valley on Saturday. The Addicks lost to The Shrews in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off semi-finals last season and Bowyer’s men will be looking to get revenge on their opponents this weekend.

Boss Bowyer is not thought to be ready to end his recruitment drive with one loanee. The former midfield dynamo has confirmed that he is ready to add two further signings to his group in the coming days.

Bowyer has had to wheel-and-deal in the transfer market this summer with the club continuing to await news of a much needed takeover.
