The 26-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Brighton & Hove Albion, but will remain on loan with Wigan until the January transfer window, when he will return to the south coast.
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton said this about the signing of Dan Burn: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the club. He has a wealth of experience from his time with Fulham, Birmingham City and Wigan amongst others.”
“He’s an imposing figure and had an excellent season helping Wigan to the League One championship. He also impressed in an excellent FA Cup run to last season’s quarter-finals.”
“He’s currently recovering from an injury sustained during pre-season, but he will remain with Wigan. That also benefits both Dan and ourselves as it will enable him to get fully up to speed in terms of fitness before January.”
Wigan manager Paul Cook said this about Burn’s departure: “It is very difficult to stand in the way of a player who has an opportunity to play in the Premier League at a very good club like Brighton and Dan is very deserving of that chance.”
“I am delighted for Dan and equally pleased he will be here until January; he’s got a bit of a knock at the moment which will keep him out for a short period of time but he will continue to be a great asset to us when he returns.”
