Middlesbrough striker staying put despite interest from Ligue 1

Middlesbrough have already lost Patrick Bamford to Leeds this window and won’t want to let any other attackers leave, and according to The Evening Gazette, Boro striker Martin Braithwaite won’t be departing despite interest from Ligue 1.

The Evening Gazette expressed that Martin Braithwaite looks committed to the cause, and that was his downfall last season. When Tony Pulis came to the club in December, Braithwaite looked to move from the club straight away and secured a loan deal with Bordeaux in France.

Over the summer, the Danish international has been linked back to the French side, as well as interesting Italian giants Lazio. However, after starting the season well for Middlesbrough, with two goals in his first two games, Pulis will be looking to hold onto the forward.

With not many options in wide areas and in attack, Braithwaite offers versatility and can play in a number of positions and has deputised out wide so far this campaign. The sale of Adama Traore to Wolves means Braithwaite has been given a second chance under Pulis, and he has taken it with both hands.

Although the transfer window closes in England this evening, the rest of Europe have until the end of the month. Also, Bordeaux could be looking for another loan deal for the Dane instead of a permanent transfer, which could be worrying for Middlesbrough fans given the start he has made.

For Bordeaux, Braithwaite scored four goals in 14 games in Ligue 1, and his form earned him a place in the Danish side for this summer’s World Cup tournament.
