Peterborough United’s Director of Football Barry Fry has revealed that star man Marcus Maddison will not be leaving the club before the 5pm deadline tonight.
Marcus Maddison has been one of the most highly sought after players in the Football League this summer, after he was placed on the transfer list at Peterborough United, with a release clause of just £2.5m.
However, despite constant links throughout the summer with the majority of Championship clubs, it seems certain that Marcus Maddison is not going to be sealing a move before the 5pm deadline.
Peterborough Telegraph journalist Alan Swann provided an eleventh hour update on Posh’s transfer activity. He said on Twitter:
“BREAKING NEWS: Barry Fry picked phone up to me for first time this week to say no more deals. Maddison still here, he’s not going to Blackburn, nor is Tafazolli, no more signings today, although he remains at club with 45 mins to transfer deadline”
Earlier this afternoon, Maddison posted a picture on his Snapchat story, providing a transfer update for Championship fans hoping their club would capitalise on a bargain signing and bring in Maddison. However, it doesn’t seem likely:
Maddison will be disappointed that he hasn’t been able to seal a move away from Posh, as will the club. The playmaker has been replaced and is highly unlikely to be played.
Fans of Championship clubs will be angry they haven’t capitalised on a possible bargain in failing to sign Maddison. It is expected that he will now be sent out on loan before the end of August, possibly with an option to buy.
