Marcus Maddison has been one of the most highly sought after players in the Football League this summer, after he was placed on the transfer list at Peterborough United, with a release clause of just £2.5m.

However, despite constant links throughout the summer with the majority of Championship clubs, it doesn’t seem like Marcus Maddison is going to be sealing a move before the 5pm deadline.

Earlier this afternoon, Maddison posted a picture on his Snapchat story, providing a transfer update for Championship fans hoping they will capitalise on a bargain signing and bring in Maddison. However, this doesn’t seem likely:

As you can tell, Maddison is sat at his home playing FIFA, rather than out discussing personal terms or completing a medical.

That being said, this is Transfer Deadline Day. Deals can blossom out of nowhere, and a player’s club can change at the click of the fingers. A deal can easily be negotiated from home, too, so Maddison could just be teasing those on his Snapchat.

Maddison has been strongly linked with Leeds United, Aston Villa, West Brom, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Reading throughout the summer, after he was placed on the transfer list to help him get his dream move to the Championship.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony made it known to Steve Evans – Posh manager – that he should prepare for life without Maddison, and he has done. Posh have made 16 signings and 19 sales, and have filled the void that will be left by Marcus Maddison.
