Still hope for Aston Villa in chase for Premier League winger – deal could still be done

Aston Villa could still complete a deal to bring in West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Daily Mirror report that West Ham could allow winger Robert Snodgrass to leave later in the month. Aston Villa have been strongly linked with a loan move that would see the Scotsman rejoin on loan, but talks seem to have broken down over the past few weeks, with new Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini deciding he wants to keep Snodgrass until he has decided whether he will get game time or not.

Pellegrini has made eight signings at West Ham this summer, and Snodgrass could struggle to get into the team. Steve Bruce has made it known to West Ham that he wants to reunite with Snodgrass, who he managed at Hull before signing him for Villa last season.

Snodgrass fast became a fans favourite at Villa Park last season, playing in 43 games, picking up an impressive seven goals and 14 assists. He played a key part in Bruce’s side as they finished fourth, before losing to Fulham in the play-off final.

The 30-year-old received a heroes welcome from Villa fans when the two clubs met in a pre-season friendly earlier this summer, in which West Ham came out 3-1 victors.

Bruce will be hopeful that he can seal a loan deal later in the window, with Pellegrini reportedly set to let Snodgrass leave on loan in search of consistent game-time.
