West Brom set sights on former Portuguese youth international

Norwich City right-back Ivo Pinto is a potential option for West Bromwich Albion, according to the Pink ‘Un.

The Baggies are in the hunt for a full-back and have seen a bid rejected for Rangers. They are now set to turn to Pinto as an alternative.

Any potential deal for Pinto to the Hawthorns is likely to be a loan move meaning West Brom do have until the end of August to get it done.

Pinto, who is a former Portugal Under-21 international, has played for Norwich City since January. He joined the Canaries for £2.2 million from Dynamo Zagreb but could not prevent them from relegation from the Premier League in his first season.

Nevertheless, he has impressed for them in their last two seasons in the Championship, in which he has played a combined 68 times for them in the league.

Pinto started his professional career with FC Porto but only went onto play once for their first-team. Instead, he gained experience during loan spells at Gil Vicente, Vitoria and Covilha before leaving Porto to join Rio Ave in 2011.

He never played for Rio Ave and was immediately loaned out to União de Leiria before he signed for Romanian side CFR Cluj. He spent a year there before joining Dynamo Zagreb in 2013. Pinto helped them win the Croatian first division title three times and their domestic club twice.

Ivo Pinto has established himself as a top full-back in the Championship and would be a shrewd signing by West Brom.
