Tottenham end interest in Aston Villa star Grealish

Sky Sports claims that Tottenham Hotspur will not be producing another offer for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish before today’s 5pm transfer deadline. The Sky Bet Championship club insist that the player is simply not for sale, meaning Spurs look to have ended their interest.

Reports have been rife for a number of weeks now as Tottenham signalled their intent to bring Grealish to the club. Mauricio Pochettino has many young English talents within his squad, and wanted to add another. However, Aston Villa look set to keep their star man, with the new ownership declaring their intent to keep him on board.

Grealish, aged 22, is currently at Bodymoor Heath, the Aston Villa training ground, as they prepare for this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship encounter with Wigan Athletic. They began their campaign on Monday with a 3-1 away victory versus Hull City, a game which Grealish started.

Grealish had supposedly suggested to the club that he did want to make the move to Spurs and play in the UEFA Champions League. He was said to be disillusioned by the fact the club were unwilling to let him move on, despite telling him before they would let him do so if a big Premier League club produced a bid. Nevertheless, he is the type that will get his head down and perform, and Grealish is now expected to be in Bruce’s line-up for the Wigan clash at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon. Tottenham could very well return with their interest in the January transfer window.
