Blackburn Rovers interested in Deadline Day move for former England youth international

Blackburn Rovers are lining up a bid for Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, according to the Scottish Sun.

Blackburn Rovers are thought to be in the market for another goalkeeper, and are reportedly lining up a move for Rangers’ Wes Foderingham.

Foderingham has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of rookie manager Steven Gerrard, after he brought in Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor, with Jak Alnwick even jumping ahead of him.

Gerrard is willing to listen to offers for both Alnwick and Foderingham, but will not let both of the shot stoppers go. Bristol City have been linked with a move for Alnwick, but Rangers will need to bring in another goalkeeper if they are to let both Foderingham and Alnwick leave.

Foderingham joined Rangers from Swindon back in July 2015, and has made 131 appearances for the Scottish side. The 27-year-old has been a first team player since his arrival at Ibrox, but now seems to have been dropped to the bench after the arrival of McGregor from Hull City.

The former England youth international could be keen to look elsewhere for first team football, and Blackburn Rovers could offer him just that. His deal with Scotland ends at the end of the season, and they could look to cash in on him instead of losing him on a free. Given he is now second or third choice keeper, chances are he would reject a new deal in search of game time elsewhere – so he could move before the 5pm deadline today.
