Aston Villa set to sign Premier League striker – not Lukas Nmecha

The Birmingham Mail have reported that Aston Villa are set to sign Watford striker Isaac Success in a surprise deal that would take the young striker to Villa Park before the transfer window closes today.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan in La Liga with Malaga, but found himself limited, only making six appearances for the side and failing to find the back of the net and is supposedly looking to kickstart his career once again with Aston Villa.

The young Nigerian International is thought to be in search of regular football and is hoping a move to Villa Park will give him the opportunity to reignite his career up front, after a struggling spell at Watford.

Success scored six goals in 30 games during his second season with La Liga side Granada which initially prompted Watford to make a £12.5m move for the striker, but the forward has failed to capture the imagination at Vicarage Road and could be set to move on for just a fraction of the price.

This news comes after Aston Villa have been heavily linked with a move for young Manchester City forward Lukas Nmecha, who has also been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Nmecha was supposedly in the Villa’s director’s box at Hull City the other night when the Villains beat Hull City 3-1 at the KCOM, thanks to goals from Tommy Elphick, Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton.

Whether Villa will sign Nmecha or Success remains to be seen; but if they want a loan deal for either player they have until August the 31st to do so. If they want a permanent deal for either striker, they have less than 8 hours.
