Grealish, Jack Grealish’s Aston Villa status revealed on transfer deadline day

Jack Grealish’s Aston Villa status revealed on transfer deadline day

Jack Grealish will be staying at Aston Villa despite bids from Tottenham Hotspur according to a report from the Express & Star.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who has had the unique honour of playing for the England and Republic of Ireland U21s, came through the Aston Villa academy and has since made 93 appearances for them, sticking with the club even when they were relegated from the Premier League. The only time away from the club has been when he went on loan with Notts County in the 2013/14 season.

Because Aston Villa failed to get promoted for the second season in a row, many expected Grealish to go. And those thoughts were only increased when it became apparent that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing him. They will be competing in the Champions League this season and will most likely be challenging for the Premier League title and it would be a huge honour for Grealish to do both. It would most likely increase his chances of playing international football as well.

Tottenham’s chances at signing Grealish went down when Aston Villa were taken over, meaning they were no longer under financial difficulties and that they didn’t have to sell players like they were expecting. It then became a battle to keep Grealish and it appears that they will be keeping their star man. They have told Tottenham bluntly that he is not for sale and while Grealish is disappointed the move won’t be happening, it’s unlikely that he puts a transfer request in to force the move.
