Nottingham Forest in discussions to sign Huddersfield Town defender

Nottingham Forest are in discussions to sign Huddersfield Town’s Michael Hefele according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old defender started his career in his native Germany at Unterhaching but would leave two years after his debut to join Greuther Furth. He struggled to break into their first team though and would soon head to Dynamo Dresdren after having a loan spell with Wacker Burghausen. He finally got a chance to impress at Dresden and it was this form which would earn him a move to Huddersfield in 2016.

Hefele was impressive in his first year at Huddersfield, being a key player for the Terriers as they surprised many by achieving promotion to the Premier League. While he was hoping to get a chance to continue that form in the top tier, he struggled with injuries last year which limited him to just two appearances. In that time, Huddersfield have been moving forward and it appears that the German will once again be forced to watch from the sidelines should he stay at the John Smith’s Stadium.

That’s why Huddersfield are willing to sell him and why Nottingham Forest are stepping up to try and sign him. The Reds may have made many signings this summer but they are hoping to get one more sorted today on transfer deadline day. Hefele has experience of getting promoted and he could end up being a great addition to their backline. Forest didn’t keep a clean sheet in either of their two opening games so Hefele could make a difference should he wrap up this alleged £350K deal.
