“Absolute steal” – Aston Villa fans react to the signing of John McGinn from Scottish Premier League club Hibernian

Aston Villa have confirmed that they have signing of John McGinn from Scottish Premier League club Hibernian.

Birmingham City, Derby County and Brighton & Hove Albion was hopeful about transfer target John McGinn from Hibernian but Aston Villa have won the race to signing the midfielder.

The young midfielder has been capped nine times by Scotland and joins Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee after signing a four-year contract.

About John McGinn –

The midfielder joined Hibernian for an undisclosed fee from St Mirren in July 2015 on a four-year contract, and has made a massive impact at the Club.

In his first season for Hibernian, the midfielder put in a run of strong performances in midfield, being the stand-out performer was being an occurrence.

Also during his first season, he scored a memorable winning goal against St Johnstone in the League Cup with a strike from 25-yards out. His performance in the William Hill Scottish Cup Final also helped to guide Hibernian to glory against Rangers.

A full Scotland debut also arrived in 2016, where he played the full 90 minutes against Denmark, and John won the Man of the Match award.

His impressive performances continued in the 2016/17 season, and he also contributed a further five goals. With another impressive season under his belt, the midfielder continued to gain international recognition, and played another two times for Scotland.

Overall last season, John McGinn made 43 appearances in all competitions and scored six goals whilst making eight assists.
