Aston Villa reject mega money offer from Spurs – will they keep star midfielder?

It appears that Jack Grealish is not going to be able to leave Aston Villa this transfer window after a bid of £25 million from Tottenham being rejected by the new owners at Villa.

There has been much interest from Tottenham this summer for the England Under 21 international following an impressive season for Villa in the championship where they narrowly missed out on promotion. There had been talk that Spurs would pay Aston Villa’s valuation for Mr Grealish this week, however, due to the new executive chairman Nassef Sawiris saying that the young midfielder was no longer for sale, the clubs were not able to discuss personal terms (Irish Times).

Tottenham are now expected to be on the lookout for new targets to add to their squad before the transfer window closes, with names including Manchester United’s Anthony Martial being on the potential list.
Grealish, who still has two years left on his contract has been described as being frustrated at the club due to them not being willing to let him leave, after being told that he would be able to leave if any suitable bids are received.
The young midfielder was given great support when he was substituted in the 83rd minute during his side’s victory against Hull on Monday, emphasizing that his popularity at Villa Park.
Aston Villa have also had news that Robert Snodgrass will be staying at West Ham this season, following interest from Steve Bruce. However, Joe Bryan is expected to complete his move from Bristol City, proving not all hope is not lost at for Villa this transfer window.
