Middlesbrough, ‘Good chance’ Middlesbrough star could be set to depart

‘Good chance’ Middlesbrough star could be set to depart

After high profile departures such as Ben Gibson to Burnley, Patrick Bamford to Leeds and Adama Traore to Wolves, Middlesbrough could be set to lose another one of their star players.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, there is a ‘good chance’ that Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite could return to France and Ligue 1, where he spent the second half of last season.

Braithwaite joined Bordeaux on a short term loan in the January transfer window and enjoyed a successful spell in France, gaining him a place in the Denmark World Cup squad for Russia this summer. Many predicted the forward to have departed earlier than now, but he has knuckled down and played his part in Middlesbrough’s opening two games so far.

Braithwaite has two goals in two games to his name. He pulled one back in the game at The Den against Millwall, and opening the scoring against Sheffield United in their 3-0 win last night.

Boro fans will not be wanting to see Braithwaite leave the club, but with the recent acquisition of Jordan Hugill from West Ham United, Braithwaite could be shown the exit door.

It has not yet been reported if the deal will be a season long loan, a short term loan or if it will be a permanent transfer. If the Middlesbrough number 10 is actively looking to leave the club, it may be best for all parties involved to allow Braithwaite to leave. However, given his start to the season, Boro won’t be wanting to let the Danish international go easily.
