West Brom make audacious bid to sign Rangers defender

According to Sky Sports News, West Brom have made an audacious bid of around £3m to sign Rangers captain James Tavernier with less than 24 hours to go until the transfer window slams shut.

The full-back has made 111 appearances for the Scottish side, scoring an impressive 20 goals from full-back during his time with the club and now has caught the interest of Darren Moore’s West Brom side.

The full-back scored eight goals in 38 appearances for Rangers last season and was handed the armband by new Rangers boss Steven Gerrard this summer ahead of the new season, in which the Scottish club are wanting to compete with Celtic for the SPL title, after finishing in third place in the division last season.

Tavernier is a talented, attacking full-back and would offer the Baggies an outlet in the full-back position to get up the field, but he is also assured and calm at the back and would be a valuable asset for the Championship side.

The full-back is probably worth more than £3m and at only 26-years-old, he’s got the capacity to continue growing and developing, whilst also staying captain as one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, as well as playing in Europe with the Scottish club, who play Maribor in the Europa League, tomorrow.

It remains to be seen whether Rangers will consider West Brom’s bid for the full-back, but if he does move to the Hawthorns in a deal for just £3m, it would be a bargain for the Championship side.
