Burnley could offer Sam Vokes to West Brom as part of Jay Rodriguez deal

Burnley could use striker Sam Vokes as part of a deal to West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez, according to BirminghamLive.

The Clarets are desperate to re-sign Rodriguez and could offer Vokes to West Brom. Middlesbrough have been linked with him as well in this transfer window.

The 28-year-old is playing his seventh season for Burnley having joined them in 2012. He has played over 200 games for the Premier League side and has scored a combined 59 goals.

Vokes is an experienced striker and started his career at AFC Bournemouth and rose through the youth ranks with the Cherries. He went onto play 59 games for them in League One and scored 16 goals.

Wolves then snapped him up in 2008 but he never managed to break into their first-team. Vokes had loan spells at Leeds United, Bristol City, Sheffield United, Norwich City and Brighton and Hove Albion before leaving Wolves on a permanent basis to join Burnley in 2012.

Vokes, who has made 59 caps for the Wales national team, has scored 20 and 15 goals in his previous two seasons in the Championship with Burnley and these goals helped Sean Dyche’s side gain promotion to the Premier League twice.

Losing Jay Rodriguez seems a distinct possibility for West Brom but signing Sam Vokes as a replacement would soften the blow somewhat. Vokes is a real handful at this level and would form a great strike partnership with Dwight Gayle at the Hawthorns.
